Words and Music

For poetry and music lovers: three very short A Course in Miracles YouTube clips, from the Reflections on A Course in Miracles YouTube channel.

The first, ‘Serendipity’, is about letting go of our need to figure things out on our own, and instead develop an openness to inspiration. It includes music by the indie folk band, Fleet Foxes, and a poem called, ‘The Lucky’, by W.H. Auden.

The second clip centres on emerging from the past, and features one of my favourite poems, ‘When The Sun Shines More Years Than Fear’, by Janet Frame. Frame selected this poem to be read at her funeral. It is beautiful and uplifting, and is accompanied by music from the composer, Clem Leek.

Finally, we have a video about our shared function of forgiveness; the only meaningful function. It is accompanied by music once again from Fleet Foxes: a song called ‘Helplessness Blues’. Instead of a poem, the lyrics to this track are included in the video, neatly articulating the existential angst we feel until we discover a purpose beyond serving our own ego needs.

I hope you enjoy!
