In this collection, you’ll again encounter Jungian thought. In particular, the title piece, ‘The Bridge of Return’, discusses why I believe A Course in Miracles fulfils Carl Jung’s hope for the emergence of a yoga in the West. I extend these sentiments in the essay ‘Eastern Aspirations, Western Complications’.

Family connections also play a large role in this volume. Jung receives a visit from his deceased father in ‘The Holiest Spot on Earth’, while ‘Family Ties’ looks at how different family members can reflect aspects of our personality, providing opportunities for healing and integration of our ‘shadow’.

Our tendency to be several people from one day to the next is the subject of ‘A House Divided’, and a wonderful Jungian metaphor for getting stuck in ‘neurotic’ patterns is explored in ‘Eclipse Season’.

Other notable figures in this volume include the eighties Pop Art icon Andy Warhol, who shows us ‘what shall it profit a man’ if they become obsessed with success, in ‘Let it Be’. The British poet John Milton pays a visit in ‘Burning Down the House’ with his classic Paradise Regained in hand, as does the Japanese author Yukio Mishima, with his book The Temple of the Golden Pavilion. Meanwhile, the Demtel Television shopping presenter does his best to secure a sale in ‘More, More, More’, and there’s a cute story about special love and how it can turn (oh, how it can turn!) in ‘Relationship Goals’.

Readers new to A Course in Miracles may be particularly interested in ‘Miracles and Forgiveness’, which is a succinct guide to the unique Course definitions of these terms.
