Your Only Function

“The world is your oyster,” we’re told in childhood, and so we imagine a world of promise and adventure; a place where we can soar. And that is what we are encouraged to do. Yet, A Course in Miracles tells us that our only function is forgiveness: that is why we are here; the only meaningful purpose to life.

This video explores how forgiveness relates to our ‘special classrooms’; the areas of life where we endeavoured to soar, engaging with the world on its terms. Often these areas have been used to defend us from insecurities based on an unworthy self-concept. We are not asked to leave these arenas, but to give them a different purpose; to let them be classrooms for the practice of forgiveness and healing, thereby awakening to our Self.

The philosophy and life of Ayn Rand, author of the controversial novel, The Fountainhead, is used to illustrate this process and the opportunties that ironic twists of fate provide for ‘changing our tune’.
