Trauma and the Miracle

A Course in Miracles tells us that the world we see is an outside picture of an inward condition. Here, the word ‘see’ refers to our interpretation of what we behold. If we haven’t identified with the devastating thought that the separation from God is real, then it is possible to look on devastation and not feel devastated.

However, it’s important to remember that the Course’s miracle is a correction for the ego’s thought system, and not a substitute for becoming aware of interpretations and experiencing associated emotions. This is particularly important when processing traumatic events.

This podcast examines how to use principles from A Course in Miracles helpfully in such circumstances, instead of using them to bypass the healing process. It includes a reading of ‘Looking on Devastation,’ an essay from Reflections on A Course in Miracles: Volume Two, which discusses Australia’s catastrophic bushfire season of 2019 into 2020.
